Logan Webb was in the training room preparing for his bullpen session at Scottsdale Stadium on Friday morning when he happened to glance up at the television and see some breaking news on MLB Network: Manager Bob Melvin had officially named him the Giants’ Opening Day starter.

The San Francisco Giants’ spring training clubhouse is an oval-shaped room designed to promote inclusion and interaction. But there’s a row of five lockers off to the side, separated from the rest of the dressing spaces by an entryway.

For a fourth consecutive year, Logan Webb will start Opening Day for the San Francisco Giants. The Giants have two multi-Cy Young award winners in the rotation with Justin Verlander and Robbie Ray occupying the second and third spots,

Melvin told reporters on Friday morning that Webb will be the Giants’ Opening Day starter against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark on March 27, the fourth consecutive year that Webb has had the honor.

Of course, Webb is obviously the best pitcher in the Giants' rotation, so it came as no surprise that he would get the honor to kick off the season on the mound, via Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area.
