The EFL Cup final is officially set, with Newcastle United and Liverpool proving their worth in this week's semifinals, while Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will have to do the same on Saturday with La Liga's title race taking center stage.

Holders Liverpool punched their return ticket to Wembley and a League Cup final against Newcastle United after a 4-0 rout, and 4-1 aggregate victory, over a toothless Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Thursday.

Liverpool reached the final of the English League Cup by routing Tottenham 4-0 on Thursday and maintained its pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple of trophies. Goals from Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk at Anfield overturned Spurs' 1-0 lead from the semifinal first leg to seal a 4-1 aggregate victory.
