Israel escalated on Friday its attacks on suspected Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, launching a series of air and drone strikes that hit mountainous areas and an apartment building.

Hezbollah suffered significant losses on the battlefield during the war, which left more than 4,000 people dead in Lebanon and caused destruction amounting to $11 billion. In Israel, 127 people died, including 80 soldiers.

The Israeli air force launched intense airstrikes on mountains overlooking the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh on Friday, news agency AP reported. Its military described the action has been taken to strike the underground assets of the militant Hezbollah group.
