Liverpool have been told Hugo Ekitike would jump at the chance of a move to Anfield should they make an official bid for the French forward. The Reds have opened talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over Ekitike with the expectation they will lodge an offer for the 23-year-old.

Confidence is growing Newcastle can wrap up the signing of Hugo Ekitike after club officials were dispatched to Frankfurt to finalise the transfer.

Newcastle submitted an initial £69.5million bid for Ekitike which represents a club-record fee. The Magpies’ current record transfer is the £63million paid to Real Sociedad for Alexander Isak in 2022 but it appears they are willing to break it to land Ekitike.
