The Los Angeles Lakers returned to Summer League action on Sunday with their highly anticipated matchup against the Miami Heat, and all eyes were on Bronny James as he made his 2025 Summer League debut. After sitting out Saturday’s opener against the Golden State Warriors, James stepped into the lineup looking to make an early impact.

In addition to guaranteeing his spot on the court, LeBron James has formally accepted his $52.6 million player option for the 2025–26 NBA season, escalating trade rumours that he is linked to the Golden State Warriors.

The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James do not appear to be on good terms currently. Plenty of reports have come out that suggest the two sides could part ways. Some think a trade might occur. Others simply think that James will play out the final season on his contract and either leave for another team or retire next offseason.
