Ukraine has sent delegation to Europe to source Soviet-era power and heating plants, says energy minister
Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine's First Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, has said during a parliamentary Q&A session that Ukrainian teams are actively seeking Soviet-era thermal and combined heat and power plants in Eastern Europe to build a reserve for rebuilding infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks.
The much-anticipated decision is set to transform Ukraine’s defence industry and allow Kyiv’s partners to access the rarest type of weapons – those tested on the actual battlefield, the Ukrainian president said on Monday.
Under the scheme, Ukraine will be able to spend €60 billion of the loan on desperately-needed weapons to fight off Russia's invasion, with the rest earmarked for general budget support.
