Local law enforcement agencies are once again turning to the community for help in ensuring that all children have an opportunity to receive presents on Christmas morning.

In 800 communities across America, the United States Marines are collecting toys for the annual Toys for Tots program. Locally, the Marines teamed up this morning with Fat Matt Roofing at Ollie’s on Judge Ely for a holiday purchase.

Community members have until Dec. 7 drop off new, unwrapped toys for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

Toys for Tots has filled a north Charlotte warehouse with 8,000 toys for children in need. The organization said a record number of families requested gifts this year, and they need to collect 90,000 more within the next week.
