A ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand appears to be holding, hours after it came into effect at midnight local time (1 p.m. ET Monday), following days of clashes across the two countries’ disputed border.
The Thailand-Cambodia border, where fighting has raged since last week, is now calm following a ceasefire deal and military commanders from both sides are set to meet for talks on Tuesday, acting Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai said.
"The U.S. already flunked the test and that should be a wakeup call," a former senior U.S. State Department official told Newsweek.
