President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guards troops to quell immigration protests in Los Angeles, overriding California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s objections in a rare move.

National Guard troops were stationed around federal government buildings, as police and protesters clashed in separate demonstrations over federal immigration raids in Los Angeles.

Trump has said he is deploying 2,000 California National Guard troops to Los Angeles to quell the protests, which he called “a form of rebellion.”
