The win was the ninth straight for St. John's (20-3, 11-1 Big East), which has its best record through 23 games since it was also 20-3 in 1985-86. The 11-1 conference record is the best through 12 games since 1984-85, when St. John's reached its most recent Final Four.

Solomon Ball is having a fantastic sophomore season, up to 15 points per game on conference-best 3-point shooting. He dropped 25 at Marquette and 23 against Butler. Two-time champ Alex Karaban has played all but 15 minutes of Connecticut’s last five games. Freshman Liam McNeely is expectedo to make his return from a high ankle sprain.

Marquette looks to continue their strong Big East campaign as they travel to face St. John's in a conference matchup on Monday night at Madison Square Garden.
