In an emotional Instagram post Sunday, Spelling wrote a lengthy note reflecting on her grief and the lessons Doherty taught her.

Shannen Doherty is being remembered by her friends and co-stars on the first anniversary of her death from breast cancer.

“When she died a year ago, I didn’t post anything. And yes, some people criticized that. To them I say: grief isn’t a performance. It’s personal. Let people grieve how they grieve.”
