A very short walk from the parking (easy to get parking). The falls are literally roaring at this time of the year. Be careful of the slippery rocks. The falls are loud and have an amazing flow. Grea… Full review by arushi812

With California's lack of water its nice to see a pretty decent sized water fall. Highly recommended for pictures and a quick pit stop before entering the rest of the park. Full review by jhendron2015

Great waterfall- a stone's throw away from the car park. Be sure to wear sensible shoes as it is pebbly and wet near the falls. Full review by SarahI487

It is dangerous to swim or be in the Kings River due to the rocks, huge boulders and fast moving water. In the summer at Roads end you will find many people jumping of Muir Rock or Party Rock into the river and swimming a very short distance to shore. In mid summer the river is not as high and rushing here. If you want to swim go to Hume Lake which is just 8 miles from Grant Grove Village. There is a Christian Camp at the end of the lake but if you keep driving a couple miles further you will find a Sandy beach and swimming area.

The park is open year round, only the road to Cedar Grove is closed during the winter..... usually opens early spring to late fall. I'm winter would be best to check weather and road conditions before making the trip there. In winter you pretty much should have 4 wheel drive or be carrying chains as weather is always apt to change during your visit.

The waterfall will not be like that in mid oct. this time of the year all the waterfalls running rushing because snow is melting. roaring fall is just a mile hike or drive from Cedar groove lodge in Kings Canyon National Park. You can easily find this via Google map. And a big sign is there for roaring fall they have good parking area too also a half a mile hike from parking lot to fall. Hope it helps.
